Advent is (basically) upon us!!!!

Good morning! I am so excited to kick off this Advent study with you dear friends once again! Today I am going to use the post to lay out the order in which we will do things, so you know what to expect and how to study. I will be posting a link in the Facebook Group "Hope in the Everlasting," each morning plus sending out an email. You can do one, the other or both. We are trying blogger again this year as we have tried now several formats, and options; this one from the feedback I have received seems the easiest.

This year we will be studying the genealogy of Jesus! We could study this the forever and never get all of the treasures out of it, so it will feel brief. Please go deeper! I will always link additional resources on Fridays so that you can take the study further yet. I suggest memorizing this beautiful passage of scripture.

There will always be at least one Christmas hymn each day.

And then a small summary of the study for the day.

Fridays will be in person at my house. Message me for my address and details if this is something you are interested in.

This year, we will be listening to a sermon each week, that I will give out in the beginning of the week and then we will break it apart into notes and be able to study the passage and the points together.  This week in particular we will be just prepping our hearts and minds to get back into the swing of things.

Poor Bishop Hooper set Matthew 1:1-17 to music and you can listen to it here.

Matthew 1:1-17 (ESV)

Christmas, the coming of Christ, is about the gospel. It is the best news that Jesus Christ was born. It is the hope in the waiting, the promises fulfilled, IN HIM. It is a time of wonderment, humility, adoration, confession, kindness, goodness and meekness. I am leaving us with this Christmas song for today, Prepare Him Room, which is a good prayer for us all. May we allow Jesus to be the center and worship to be our response this Advent season.

Excited to study with you all.
