Isaiah 42 Video 3
Listen or read Isaiah 42 before your press play! Familiarize yourself with the passage. Pick a verse or 2 to either memorize or write out this week.
The outline of the video to follow along with or print and take notes:
Verse 1 Behold or look...at a servant
The illustration used for us today would be perhaps someone you overlook, whether it be a grocery stocker or housekeeping. (To which I had to laugh because within our own home, 2 of us do as such for work)
God says, this overlooked one, this servants is:
Whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights.
-He is the Servant of God
-God upholds Him making it impossible to fail at the task at hand.
*Economy of redemption
-truly a man representative of a real people
Isaiah 11:2 the Spirit of:
-the Lord will rest on Him
-wisdom and understanding
-counsel and strength
-knowledge and the fear of the Lord
Ephesians 1 God choosing to save sinners- setting His affections upon His enemies in eternity past
* Astonishing choices
-God chooses His Son as the champion of the people and the Son embraces it. THE Elect One.
* The Son- He is the God Man and the object of the Father's Delight
-the task He will bring forth the justice/righteousness to all nations.
*Verse 3- A bruised Red He will not break
+just an additional note- there is an incredible book written by Puritan Richard Sibbes called A Bruised Reed, it is fantastic and easy to read- I highly recommend it in light of this passage.
* The Creator
-Who is talking? the Creator 1-this is the God who will hold the God Man. 2-He gives Christ as a Covenant.
-Highly suggest pausing the video and truly listening to this portion over again. Write down any questions, dig into this here and truly, truly come to understand what it means to have Christ as the Covenant
*Conclusion: Do not get so in love the works of Christ, the theology of Christ....more than Christ Himself. We must fix our gaze and hearts on Him. The rest is the goodness that overflows.
