Jesus is the Christ (pt I)

Lets jump back into our Advent study! With the exception I linked the wrong sermon last week. Jesus Saves Sinners is the sermon we will study NEXT week. My apologies! Same pastor but this is this is message 1 in the series.

Jesus is the Christ

-Jesus is the Christ the sent One of God,

We are reading this in the Gospel of Matthew. It is called the gospel because it is the good news of Jesus Christ. It proclaims who He is. That He is the only Way to God. It tells of His life, death and resurrection.

Matthew AKA Levi was a Jewish tax collector who was converted and called by Jesus. He is the author of this book.

This would be a world changing proclamation- He (Jesus) was the Anointed one, the promised one. The prophet, priest and king. In the Old Testament we see prophets heralding, priests making sacrifices and kings ruling- however they were all just types, or foreshadows of who was to come.

Jesus would be the prophet -par excellence- the priest - who would offer once and for all the perfect sacrifice- and the King - who would reigns over all for all eternity.

We must be founded upon the truth that Jesus is the Christ.

Three ways that we can see that Jesus is Christ ( we will take 1 point each day this week)

1) He is the seed of Abraham. V2

2) He is the seed of David  V6

3) Jesus alone is the Christ, the seed of new humanity v17


Questions/thoughts:

Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ? And Christ alone is that way to salvation? If not, what are some questions you might have?

Do we read the genealogy as a true family tree outlining for us the redemptive history of God to send His Son to dwell among us? To fulfill the offices of prophet, priest and King? Have you ever heard those 3 terms?

A small walk through Servant Songs

 Hello! This blog for our Lentish series this year will look different. It will essentially serve as a study guide to the videos provided by Media Gratiae so that we can spend time studying into the Word.
